These Italian chocolate cookies, with warm spices and toasted sliced almonds, provide a cozy, nostalgic feel in each bite that makes them perfect as Christmas cookies or for any special occasions.
Place on an unprepared baking sheet (no parchment paper or oil, I know I was skeptical too).
Bake for 9-10 minutes. The cookies should still be a little bit soft and a finger should leave a slight impression in them when lightly touched.
Allow to cool on the baking sheet for 1-2 minutes then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
*My ADHD brain forgot to halve the chocolate bar while trying to figure out what a small Hershey bar in an old recipe meant. The extra chocolate flavor works well though!
