Jump to Recipe Print Recipe

These incredibly easy Pumpkin Peanut Butter Dog Treats are a dog favorite! My pups love them! They’re also quick and CHEAP to make. Save money and make your dog happy with these healthy homemade treats!

Are you sick of buying extremely expensive, unhealthy (or even relatively healthy) dog treats? I am.

Homemade dog treats are definitely cost effective. They also allow us fur moms to control what ingredients our pups eat.

Easy Pumpkin Peanut Butter Dog Treats

These Easy Pumpkin Peanut Butter Dog Treats include natural peanut butter, which is high in protein and a dog FAVORITE.

They also include canned pumpkin. Pumpkin helps to make dogs regular… if you know what I mean.

In the past, one of my dogs was constipated. Our vet recommended mixing some pumpkin with her food. Pumpkin is high in water content and a great source of fiber. It is a great way to prevent and cure constipation.

These Easy Pumpkin Peanut Butter Dog Treats also include a tiny bit of cinnamon. Cinnamon has anti-inflammatory benefits for humans and dogs. I’ve also read that cinnamon can help regulate a dog’s blood sugar, making it a great option for dogs who are at risk for diabetes.

Which Peanut Butter to Use

As I described in my post, Peanut Butter Banana Dog Treats (Only 3 Ingredients!), it is extremely important to choose a peanut butter that does NOT contain xylitol.

According to VCA Animal Hospital, “xylitol is extremely toxic to dogs.”

I like to use (and eat) Skippy’s Natural Peanut Butter. It does not contain xylitol. It tastes great (I eat it by the spoonful). And, it doesn’t separate like other natural peanut butters.

Do dogs really love these easy Pumpkin Peanut Butter Dog Treats?

My dogs DEFINITELY do. I tried to stage a cute dog photoshoot with these treats… My youngest pup kept stealing the product and running away!!!

A tricolor dog moves quickly to steal a bone-shaped, baked, golden peanut butter and pumpkin dog treat.

I had to give up on a photo before she ate them all!

Cute Shapes

I cut my easy Pumpkin Peanut Butter Dog Treats into adorable bone shapes using a cookie cutter from this Wilton Cookie Cutter Set.

This 5-piece Dog Bone and Biscuit Cookie Cutter Set is also perfect for homemade dog treats. It comes with 5 different sizes of bone shapes!

In order to cut out cute designs, just plop the mixed batter on some parchment paper, roll it out, then cut using the cookie cutters!

Other recommend shapes are circles, stars, paw prints, or hearts (like I used in my Peanut Butter Banana Dog Treats).

I have never left a rating for anything…….ever! That being said I felt compelled to do so this time because I was so happy with these treats for my dog Jake! Now when I say Jake is fussy about his treats that would be an understatement! Basically the only treats he likes are the chicken jerky treats from Costco! He is an English Shepherd and cannot eat beef at all and barely tolerates everything else! He may eat a treat now and then and then get tired of it and then stop eating it all together just when I stock up on it! But I keep on trying and for his 16th birthday…..yes I said 16th birthday, I made these treats for him and his buddies at doggy daycare and they were an instant hit for Jake and his friends! And Jake is still eating them to this day!
