This Easy DIY Sugar Scrub exfoliates and moisturizes with just three ingredients. Four, if you count the fun sprinkles.
It’s incredibly easy, fast, and inexpensive to make, which makes it the PERFECT gift for someone you love. Especially if you’re busy, tired, and on a strict budget… like me.
Easy Sugar Scrub Recipe
You can also make this DIY body scrub for yourself. I definitely do.
I like to know what I’m putting on and in my body. In the past, I was a bit obsessive about this. Now, I still like to steer clear of harmful chemicals… and ingredients I can’t even pronounce or spell.
Because this DIY Sugar Scrub is homemade, you know EXACTLY what’s in it. It doesn’t include anything toxic.
Each ingredient has it’s own, natural benefits… except for the sprinkles.
Simple Ingredients
The three main ingredients in this easy sugar scrub recipe are Coconut Oil, Granulated Sugar, and Essential Oil.

For the Scrub with pink and lavender sprinkles, pictured in this post, I used lavender essential oil. Which is calming, soothing, and PERFECT after a long day.
For the homemade body scrub with blue and snowflake sprinkles, I used Peppermint Essential Oil. Which is one of my absolute favorites.
It clears the sinuses, especially when used in a hot shower. It also alleviates feelings of nervous tension, stress, and irritability.
There are so many different essential oils. Each one offers something different for our physical and mental well-being.
For example:
Rose Essential Oil hydrates the skin, reduces signs of aging, and minimizes the appearance of scars. It also promotes feelings of energy and vitality while relieving stress.
Orange Essential Oil energizes and uplifts the mind. It’s perfect if you shower in the morning. It'll wake you right up!
You can include whichever essential oil you prefer or need. Here is a GREAT starter set of essentials oils. It includes most of the ones mentioned in this post.

Sugar Scrub Benefits
Each ingredient has its own benefits for our skin.
Coconut Oil - Coconut Oil contains lots and lots of anti-oxidants, including Vitamin E and Vitamin A. Both of which help to slow down the aging process and may help to reduce the damage of free radicals. Coconut Oil is also full of nourishing, healthy fats that help to smooth and moisturize the skin.
Sugar - Sugar is a natural humectant. It can help hydrate the skin and retain moisture. It is also a natural source of glycolic acid, which promotes cell turnover. This results in fresher, healthier-looking skin. Sugar granules are gentler, smaller, and finer than salt. This makes it less abrasive than salt scrubs, which can leave microscopic tears in the skin.
Lavender Essential Oil - Lavender Essential Oil has many therapeutic benefits. It is known to reduce anxiety and stress. It improves sleep, restores skin complexion, and slows aging with powerful antioxidants.
How to Use
This Homemade Body Scrub (for glowing skin) exfoliates and moisturizes all at once. I recommend using it once or twice a week in the shower. Massage a small amount, in circular motions, into your skin. Rinse completely.
PLEASE be careful in the shower after using. This scrub does make the floor very slippery. I have almost wiped out a few times…

How to Store
I recommend storing this DIY body scrub in an airtight container, like a mason jar or even a leftover tupperware container (probably the safest to use in the shower).
If you're making this recipe as a handmade gift, put the scrub in a cute, airtight glass jar. The jar can easily be cleaned out and reused later for many different purposes.
I use a good, ol’ mason jar, like the ones in this set.
You can easily dress them up with ribbon, ties, or handmade gift tags.
I recently gave this scrub to my aunt because she was complaining about how dry and chapped her hands were. She still uses, loves, and RAVES about it. Her hands have never felt better.
So it's definitely a great homemade gift idea!

How to Make 3 Ingredient Sugar Scrub
You can make this recipe into a 3 ingredient sugar scrub by omitting the sprinkles...
