Attention all chai lovers, you need to try this homemade pumpkin spice chai latte. It may become your new fall favorite.

It’s a fun, tasty twist on classic chai for the pumpkin season.

For a regular chai latte, check out - How to Make Starbucks Iced Chai Tea Latte. It can easily be made into a hot drink by skipping the ice and warming the milk.

Is chai with pumpkin good?

It is! If you like chai drinks and pumpkin flavors, you’ll enjoy this delicious treat.

Chai and pumpkin spice mix include a lot of the same warm spices - cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, allspice, and ginger.

Chai spice also contains cardamon and a pinch of black pepper for a truly flavorful kick.

All of these warm spices with the natural flavors of real pumpkin and black tea make the perfect fall drink.

A glass mason jar mug with a handle full of tan pumpkin chai latte with a gold straw on a dark orange dish mat.

It’s so cozy as a warm latte AND an iced latte.

A great way to enjoy it is cuddled up, in a sweater, with a good book.

It’s also a great companion for autumn walks as you enjoy the bright, beautiful colors of fall foliage and the crunch of newly fallen leaves beneath your feet.

Simple Ingredients

This pumpkin spice chai tea latte is incredibly easy-to-make with three ingredients.

The three simple ingredients in this pumpkin chai latte recipe - a milk bottle of white milk, a glass mason bottle of brown pumpkin sauce, and a cream pouring dish of chai concentrate.

Homemade Pumpkin Sauce

This is the same pumpkin sauce that I use in my absolute favorite fall drink - an Iced Pumpkin Spice Latte.

It is made by combining pumpkin purée, brown sugar, water, and pumpkin pie spice in a small saucepan over medium heat.

For measurements and detailed instructions, please visit - How to Make Pumpkin Sauce for Coffee.

That post also includes how to make your own pumpkin spice blend at home with ground spices.

The best part of this Pumpkin Sauce recipe is that it makes about 2 cups of homemade pumpkin spice sauce. Which means you only have to make it once (in 5 minutes) to have pumpkin chai tea lattes every day for two weeks!

Chai Concentrate

Brown Chai Concentrate is poured into an autumn mug that has orange pumpkins and beautiful foliage on it.

Chai concentrate can easily be purchased in grocery stores or on Amazon.

For a pumpkin spice chai tea latte that tastes similar to Starbucks’, I recommend using Tazo Classic Chai Latte Concentrate.

A carton of it is usually available for around $4… around the same price as one chai latte at a local coffee shop.

It’s even more cost efficient to make your own chai concentrate from chai tea bags.

This Homemade Chai concentrate from Tea Bags recipe includes water, chai black tea bags, and granulated sugar (or sweetener of your choice, like maple syrup or honey).

It’s ready in about 15 minutes and makes about 3 cups, so you can use it every morning for a week.

Milk

White milk is poured into a mug of Pumpkin Chai Latte.

This pumpkin spice chai latte recipe can be made with any type of milk, including non dairy milk.

For a creamy latte, I recommend using oat milk or whole milk.

For a lower calorie latte, it’s better to use almond milk or nonfat milk.

I have never tried this recipe with coconut milk or soy milk. If you do, I’d love to hear how it tastes in the comments below!

How to make a Pumpkin Chai Latte

I experimented a lot with this recipe to find the perfect balance of chai and pumpkin.

The first time I made it, I couldn’t taste the pumpkin at all. The chai and all the spices overpowered it.

It was a SUPER flavorful drink though.

For a delicious drink that perfectly balances the flavors of fall, simply mix chai concentrate, pumpkin sauce, and the milk of your choice together in a mug or a glass.

Dark brown, homemade pumpkin sauce is added to a cream-colored mug with orange pumpkins and yellow, red, green, and orange leaves.

For an iced chai latte, you can add ice cubes. All the ingredients are stored in the fridge, so the drink is cold enough for me without ice.

For a warm latte, heat the combined ingredients in a small saucepan on the stove or in a microwave-safe mug in the microwave. Or however you usually warm milk.

It is okay to make this pumpkin chai tea latte the night before and store it in the fridge. Just remember to mix it again before the first sip.

If you make this drink ahead of time and want to drink it iced, please add the ice cubes right before consuming.

If you store the drink in the fridge with the ice already added, the ice cubes will melt and water down the latte. That’s not fun or cozy. 🙂
