I absolutely love any kind of chai latte.
Dirty chai latte. Matcha Chai Latte. Pumpkin chai latte. And, yes, Vanilla Chai Latte.
They’re all so perfectly comforting, unique, and delightful.
The whole spices and creamy milk almost feel indulgent, but in the best possible way.
An iced vanilla chai latte takes the cozy, homey feel to the next level while also being refreshing, flavorful, and rejuvenating.
It can easily and quickly be enjoyed in the morning or as an afternoon pick-me-up with this simple vanilla chai latte recipe.

How to Make an Iced Vanilla Chai Latte
There are two ways to make an iced vanilla chai latte. Both are included in the recipe card below.
With Vanilla Simple Syrup
One way includes using a vanilla syrup, like this vanilla syrup for coffee recipe.

If you choose to use vanilla syrup, I do not recommend using store-bought chai concentrates with it.
The combination of vanilla simple syrup and Tazo Classic Chai Latte Concentrate is way too sweet.
If you have a super sweet tooth, you are welcome to try it.
If you would like to use vanilla syrup and a prepared chai concentrate, I recommend making this Homemade Chai Concentrate from Tea Bags and GREATLY reducing the amount of sugar in the recipe. Maybe even omitting it, depending on your personal preference.
Otherwise, we will be making a strongly brewed tea with two chai tea bags and 1/2 cup of hot water for this version of the iced chai vanilla latte recipe.

I like to use black tea bags that are the classic blend of black tea and chai spices, like these Tazo Classic Chai Tea Bags.
According to the box, the black tea bags include the usual chai mixture of ginger, cinnamon, black pepper, cardamon, cloves, and star anise.
When strongly brewed, it tastes like a Starbucks copycat recipe.

With Vanilla Extract
If you already have store-bought chai concentrate or previously made your own chai concentrate recipe and want to use it, that’s okay.
The second way to make a vanilla iced chai latte is to use a prepared chai concentrate, like Tazo Chai Concentrate or this Homemade Chai Concentrate, with vanilla extract instead of vanilla syrup.

When adding the vanilla extract to your drink, please start with a small amount then taste.
If you want more vanilla flavor, simply add more vanilla extract, gradually, until you have your perfect drink.
I like to add 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract to 1/2 cup of chai concentrate and 1/2 cup of milk.
It bursts with vanilla flavor.
But, sometimes, there is a hint of spirit at the end of a sip. That classic extract taste.

Can I add extra spices to enhance the flavor of this delicious drink?
Yes, you can.
For best results, make the recipe as it is written in the recipe card first.
This is a great way to decide if you really want to add more spices.
And, if so, which ones to add.

Can I make a batch of this Iced Vanilla Chai Latte and store it for later?
Definitely. It’s a convenient way to have a flavorful drink ready when you first wake up or desperately need a satisfying pick-me-up.
To make a batch, simply follow the vanilla chai tea latte recipe in the recipe card for the amount that you would like to make.
Do not add ice until right before consuming. Otherwise, it will melt and water down your perfect drink.

Store in an airtight container in the fridge.
I like to store it in these individual mason jar glasses with airtight lids. It’s a great way to have cold drinks ready when I’m extra busy or tired.
Other Great Options
- Put pumpkin cold foam on top, like in this Iced Chai Latte with Pumpkin Cold Foam Recipe, for a cozy seasonal twist.
- Add a shot of espresso to your iced vanilla chai tea latte to make it a dirty chai latte.
- Instead of using vanilla syrup or vanilla extract in this refreshing drink, add vanilla protein powder. It’ll almost be like this Matcha Protein Shake.
- Any kind of milk can be used in this easy recipe, including dairy milk and plant-based milk. Oat milk provides an additional creamy, earthy texture and taste that’s very fulfilling.

How much caffeine is in this homemade version?
The amount of caffeine in this tasty drink depends on which chai mixture you choose to use.
If you are making the first version of this recipe (with vanilla syrup and two Tazo chai tea bags), your latte will have about 62mg to 90mg of caffeine.

If you are making the second version of this recipe (with vanilla extract and store-bought chai concentrate), your drink will have about 30+mg of caffeine.
According to Tazo.com, the Tazo Classic Chai Latte Concentrate contains 61+mg of caffeine in a 8-ounce serving.
This vanilla chai latte recipe only calls for 4 ounces of chai concentrate per serving.
