Does a Strawberry Latte have Coffee?
Yes, a strawberry latte usually includes espresso. But, this recipe can also be made with brewed coffee, cold brew coffee, cold coffee, or instant coffee (including this iced instant coffee recipe).
Please see the section “Strong Espresso Coffee” below for more details.

It is another amazing drink that it made with matcha powder instead of coffee.
Simple Ingredients
This refreshing drink is easily and quickly made with five simple ingredients - fresh strawberries, granulated sugar, ice cubes, your favorite milk, and espresso (or strong coffee).
Homemade Strawberry Syrup
Strawberry sauce is the key ingredient in this delicious recipe.
It is responsible for the unique flavor and fruity taste.
The easiest and fastest way to make a strawberry latte at home is to make a strawberry puree with about four strawberries (chopped) and two teaspoons of sugar.
This is the same way I make this Strawberry Matcha Latte Recipe, which is another popular drink.
This homemade strawberry puree doesn’t require any special equipment, saucepan, or even cooking.
Simple mash the chopped strawberries and sugar together, in a small bowl, with a fork.
This can also be done with a sugar substitute, like maple syrup or stevia.
Ice Cubes
Adding ice is optional, of course.
BUT, if you would like pretty layers in your strawberry latte, I recommend adding the ice on top of the strawberry mixture.
Then pouring the milk onto the ice. (The espresso/coffee layer comes last.)
This helps to prevent the strawberry puree and milk from combining and turning into a chunky, homemade strawberry milk.
Milk of Choice
No iced latte would be complete without creamy milk.
I recommend using your favorite milk.
Non-dairy milks, especially oat milk, almond milk, and soy milk work well in this strawberry latte recipe.
I don’t like coconut milk, so I’ve never tried it with that.
I personally like to make this strawberry latte with nonfat milk or oat milk.
Oat milk always adds a creamy texture, which I love.
For a coffee-based drink with less calories, I always recommend using unsweetened almond milk. Unfortunately, it’s not as creamy as whole milk, oat milk, or other alternatives.
Strong Espresso Coffee
Lattes are usually made with espresso.
BUT, I understand that not everyone has a fancy espresso machine at home, so this strawberry latte recipe can be made with strong brewed coffee instead of espresso shots.
The easiest type of coffee to use is instant coffee. Add about two teaspoons to 1/2 cup of hot water. BAM. Strong coffee.
My only recommendation is to let any hot coffee cool before adding it to your strawberry latte.
I brew it first then place it in the fridge to cool while I prepare the rest of the drink.
I have also made this recipe with this Starbucks Iced Coffee (unsweetened) from the grocery store or Cold Brew Coffee (recipe coming soon).
They make this recipe even easier and quicker.
Can I make this drink ahead of time?
For best results, make this strawberry latte right before consuming.
Otherwise, the strawberry mixture becomes soggy and a bit gross.
The strawberry flavor also starts to take over the drink in an unpleasant way.
I definitely don’t recommend making it ahead. But, if you do, please store it in an airtight container in the fridge and strain out the strawberry puree before drinking.
