If you’re looking for different ways to cool down on a hot summer day, you should definitely try this iced coffee with ice cream.

The combination of cold ice cream, creamy milk, and rich coffee is truly delightful.

It’s like a coffee milkshake - cool, creamy, and luxurious in a wonderfully simple way.

It can easily be enjoyed in the morning or on hot summer afternoons. Maybe add a little booze for an extra adult coffee shake. 😉

What is the best kind of coffee to use in this recipe?

For the fastest and easiest coffee with ice cream, I recommend using a good cold coffee.

This can be brewed coffee that you already chilled in the fridge, this instant iced coffee, cold brew (recipe also coming soon), or iced coffee from the grocery store.

I like to use this Starbucks Iced Coffee - Medium Roast - Unsweetened.

You can use the cold version of your favorite coffee.

BUT, for best results, I recommending using a strong coffee. Like, medium or dark roast coffee.

This helps to retain an invigorating coffee flavor in the final sweet iced coffee drink.

If using hot coffee, please chill it in the fridge before mixing it with the ice cream.

Hot coffee will just melt the ice cream, which is no fun.

Which flavor of ice cream should I use?

I personally love to use homestyle vanilla ice cream in this iced coffee recipe with ice cream.

It just adds another layer of comfort for me.

It also pairs well with most kinds of coffee for the perfect refreshing summer drink.

Some other options are:

Coffee

Coffee lovers, you can definitely make this cold drink with coffee ice cream for even more coffee flavor.

French Vanilla

If you like french vanilla coffee drinks, try making this recipe with french vanilla ice cream.

It’ll be a major upgrade to your usual iced coffee, especially on hot days.

Chocolate

I admit I haven’t tried this coffee with ice cream recipe with chocolate ice cream yet.

But, others have and they absolutely love it.

Chocolate chip ice cream is another option. It adds a little chocolate crunch to the already fun drink.

Blended, brown iced coffee with ice cream is poured over a scoop of homestyle, white vanilla ice cream in a mason jar glass with a handle in the last step of this iced coffee recipe with ice cream..

Other Variations

This cold coffee recipe can easily be adjusted or played around with to fit your preferences.

Milk

I personally prefer to use whole milk in this recipe for extra creaminess and to keep the texture on the thicker side.

Oat milk is another option that creates a similar result. Coffee creamer too!

If you want to reduce calories in this sweet treat, I recommend using almond milk. The drink won’t be as creamy or thick as the other options though.

Syrups

If you love chocolate, you can easily add chocolate syrup or even chocolate chips to this iced coffee recipe with ice cream.

Caramel syrup, this peppermint syrup, this pumpkin sauce, or any other syrup used for coffee lattes also work in this recipe.

Feel free to switch it up! And don’t forget to tell us about your favorite way to enjoy this drink in the comments below. 🙂
