One of my favorite summer activities is to go blueberry picking. It’s so relaxing. And I always end up with so many beautiful, fresh blueberries that taste better than any I buy in a store.
We love to pick blueberries at a farm in the Berkshires (in Western Massachusetts). The farm is nestled between luscious mountains for a breathtaking view in every direction.
This year, we went on the last weekend for blueberry picking. This means summer is almost over!
Fortunately, fall is my absolute FAVORITE time of year. So, I’m crazy excited and can’t wait to share so many delicious fall recipes.

Until then, I NEED to share this INCREDIBLE blueberry crisp recipe. IT’S SO GOOD.
Everyone loves it so much that it disappears quickly. If you’re a blueberry lover or enjoy fruit crisps, you definitely need to try this one.
Easy Blueberry Crisp Recipe
This blueberry dessert recipe is so incredibly easy. Crazy easy. And super quick to make.
It only takes a few minutes to toss it together then about 20-25 minutes to bake. That’s it! BUT, it tastes like it took hours to make. It seriously never fails to impress. *knock on wood*
This easy blueberry crisp recipe also only requires one bowl, which is always a win for me. I hate doing dishes. 😂
Speaking of bowls, these Stainless Steel Mixing Bowls with Airtight Lids are AWESOME. They have non-slip silicone bottoms, so they don’t slide away while mixing. They come in different sizes with different color lids, which make them perfect for storing food as well as mixing. I love multi-purpose items!
The BEST Blueberry Crisp Recipe
A lot of other blueberry crisp recipes require making a blueberry filling. They mix the blueberries with sugar, flour, lemon juice, corn starch, and more. This recipe doesn’t do that.
The oat-based topping already has sugar. I didn’t want to add even more!
I wanted to keep the tangy flavor of fresh blueberries for the perfect combination of tart and sweet. And that’s exactly what happens!
This easy blueberry crisp also tastes fresher and more real without all those added ingredients or making a blueberry filling.
Can I Use Frozen Blueberries?
Yes, you can! Which means you can definitely enjoy this easy blueberry crisp ALL YEAR ROUND! Woo woo!
Just keep in mind that frozen blueberries will release more moisture and juices while baking. If you don’t want this, you could thaw the frozen blueberries overnight then drain them before using.
Or you could thaw the frozen blueberries some then toss in flour. This should thicken the juices more while baking. For four cups of blueberries, I’d recommend using about 1/4 cup flour.
You could also toss the berries in some cornstarch. I don’t have enough experience with cornstarch to recommend an amount though. If you do this, I’d love to hear how much you used and what your experience was. 😊

What Type of Baking Dish Should I Use?
I have baked this easy blueberry crisp in a 9-inch pie dish, like this Porcelain Round Baking Dish with Ruffled Edge, and in a 8” x 8” baking dish, like this Pyrex Large Handle 8” x 8” Square Dish.
If you are using a smaller size, I recommend placing a baking sheet under the dish while baking. This will catch any potential overflow and prevent an unpleasant mess in your oven.
If you use a larger pan than the recipe calls for, I recommend making more of the crispy topping. This will ensure that all the blueberries are still covered, even if they’re spread out.
How to Serve this Easy Blueberry Crisp
I LOVE eating it warm with vanilla ice cream on top. Some people like it served with whipped cream. Lots of people enjoy it on its own.
It’s even GREAT reheated in the oven or microwave. It’s rare to have much left over though. 😂
Gluten Free Blueberry Crisp Recipe
This simple blueberry crisp recipe can easily be made gluten free by using 1 1/2 cups of gluten-free 1-to-1 flour, like Bob’s Red Mill Gluten-Free 1-to-1 Baking Flour or King Arthur’s Gluten Free Measure for Measure Flour, instead of all-purpose flour.
